A Bhutan trip built around you
Tell us who is travelling, when, and what you hope to feel at the end of it. We will plan the route, the pace and the hotels. Then we keep adjusting the plan until it reads like your trip, not ours.
Trips we often plan
A few starting points. Any of them can be combined, shortened or extended.
Honeymoons
7–10 daysSlow mornings, valley-view lodges, a private butter lamp offering, hot stone baths and a candle-lit farmhouse dinner.
Families
Any lengthArchery with locals, a farmhouse stay, short walks, the takin preserve, and drives broken into easy stages for children.
Luxury lodges
5–12 daysBhutan's five-star lodges in Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Phobjikha and Bumthang, each paired with a senior guide.
Birdwatching & nature
10–16 daysFrom subtropical forest to alpine meadow: hornbills, the white-bellied heron's rivers, and black-necked cranes in winter.
Photography
8–14 daysTimed for festival light, dzong courtyards at the quiet hours, and high passes at sunrise, with a guide who knows when to wait.
Eastern Bhutan
14–18 daysMongar, Lhuentse, Trashigang and Trashi Yangtse: textiles, remote dzongs, and very few other visitors.
Spiritual journeys
7–14 daysPilgrimage sites of Guru Rinpoche and Pema Lingpa, meditation with a teacher, and time inside temples rather than just passing through.
Walking holidays
7–12 daysDay hikes between lodges: monastery trails above Thimphu, the Phobjikha valley, Bumthang's Ogyen Choling and the old trade routes of Haa.
Tour + trek
12–20 daysThe cultural highlights first, then the Druk Path, the Jomolhari trek or Bumthang's Owl Trek, with time built in to acclimatise.
What we need from you
You don't need a plan. A rough idea is plenty to start with:
- Approximate dates, or the month you have in mind
- How many of you are travelling, and the ages of any children
- The standard of hotel you prefer
- What you enjoy, and anything you want to avoid
- Your nationality, as it affects the visa and SDF
What you get back
A written itinerary with each day's drives, walks, sights and hotels, plus an all-inclusive price per person. We change it as often as you like before you pay anything.
Once you confirm, you get a named contact here in Thimphu. That person handles your visa, SDF, hotels and guide, and is the one to message while you are travelling.
